Electrical Problem

I have a 2011 z force 48 and having electrical issues. Stopped running while cutting Greta week ago. Would turn over but not run. No power to fuel solenoid so I bypassed it and it started and runs fine. Now when I try to engage pto or disengage park brake it kills it. I'm assuming this issue along with fuel solenoid are all related but don't know what to do.

You're on the right track, the prior electrical issue and the current problems with the PTO and parking brake likely stem from a common cause. Here are some steps to diagnose the electrical issue on your Cub Cadet Z-Force S 48:

Check Safety Switches: First, inspect the safety switches for the PTO and parking brake. These switches ensure the mower is in a safe state to operate. A faulty switch could be sending a signal to cut the engine when engaged. Look for any loose connections, damaged wires, or debris around the switches.

Inspect Wiring: Look for any damaged, frayed, or corroded wires around the battery, ignition switch, PTO and parking brake controls. These could be causing short circuits or interrupting the flow of electricity.

Safety Interlock System: The Cub Cadet Z-Force S might have a safety interlock system that prevents the PTO from engaging unless certain conditions are met (like parking brake engaged, seat occupied). Check the owner's manual for details on this system and ensure all the conditions are being met.

Battery and Connections: A weak battery or loose battery connections can cause erratic electrical behavior. Check the battery voltage using a multimeter. It should be around 12.6 volts when not running and at least 13.5 volts when running. Clean and tighten the battery terminals to ensure a good connection.

Seat Switch: A faulty seat switch could also be the culprit. This switch cuts the engine if the operator leaves the seat. Check the connection and functionality of the seat switch.

Additional Resources:

Cub Cadet Z-Force S Service Manual: This might have detailed wiring diagrams and troubleshooting steps specific to your model year. You can find it online by searching "[Model year] Cub Cadet Z-Force S service manual" (replace [Model year] with your actual year).

If none of these steps resolve the issue:

Consider consulting a qualified technician with experience working on Cub Cadet mowers. They can diagnose the problem more accurately and perform any necessary repairs.

Remember, troubleshooting electrical issues can be complex. Start with the simpler checks and proceed cautiously. If you're not comfortable with electrical work, seeking professional help is always recommended.
