Drive Belt

A couple of years ago I recevied an Ariens Razor Z Model 911181 and it's been wonderful up until 3 weeks ago when I noticed it hard to push and was in drive. All of the sudden I heard a pop! Now the wheel are always engage in high gear. If I squeeze the throtle it actual slows the wheels down a bit. Is this model only to be used in drive and not push? What do you think maybe the problem with the drive.
