Shredder Is Stuck On

The shredder runs constantly unless I put switch to off position. The plastic grabber just inside the shredder may be stuck, I think if I tried to pull it apart, then the shredder doesn't turn on at all. Am I doomed to turn it off and on manually now?

If you broke the plastic actuator switch, yes. The switck might be fixable but you have to open the shredder to access it.
