I Canceled My Membership With Bally's On Dec-12-2011 And You Still Make A Charge

First of all, and this is important, you have not posted this at Bally Total Fittness but at HelpOwl so your request - which is incomplete - will not reach the Bally billing department.

The first thing I would suggest is that you check your contract. It will tell you whether you have a Value or Commitment Term Membership (length of term can vary) in which case you are not eligible to are not eligible to receive a refund except in specific situations such as disability, military orders or death.  Your contract will also specify if you make monthly payments which require a 10 day notice of cancellation before the nect payment due date.

Using the Account Management page will tell you how to begin the process and it will link you to a Contact Us online form

You can also discuss your issue with Bally, your prior cancellation attempt in December 2011, and your attempt to get your refund by calling 866-402-2559 the Member Support Center.

This is the way Bally explains your cancellation process:

For all membership types, we require you to send us a letter in writing, about your wish to cancel your membership. We recommend you take the following steps:

• Review your membership agreement for your cancellation rights.
• Start a draft of your cancellation letter.
• Call the Member Support Center at 1-866-402-2559 to make sure your letter contains all the necessary and correct information.
• Mail your completed letter (certified mail recommended) to: Bally Total Fitness, P.O. Box 96241, Washington, DC 20090-6241.

It will take approximately 10 days after your letter’s postmark date for your cancellation request to be processed.

If you need a copy of your membership agreement, you can call 866-402-2559 or send us an email using this form. There is a $10.00 replacement fee to mail or email a replacement copy of your membership. It can also take 2 to 3 weeks to pull your membership agreement from the archives and mail or email it to you.

If you didn't follow the Bally steps for cancellation, you may still be liable for your contract.  (If you have automatic payments from your checking account or to your credit card, consider notifying them that you are in the process of terminating the contract.)
