I Would Like To Know How To Operate The Windage Adjustment On My 65-4305b.

i sighted in a browning 300 win mag with a 6500 elite scope in 4.5-30x50 objectives yesterday and unknowing the scope this morning i took the cap off the windage adjustment and pulled it out to the zero setting. did i just screw up yesterdays sight in by doing this? also there is no mark on this turrett to place the 0 mark on the dial now that it is freewheeling, to know where to push it back into set mode without knowing if im going to change my left to right setting on the crosshairs . hope this makes sense and someone can help me , cause i sure dont want to re-site my rifle again, thanks
