Service Idle Control

The service idle control light came on in the 1996 Cadillac Eldorado. After one day it switched off. I do not know if this is a major problem or even an issue. I do not have a manual so I cannot look it up either. Maybe even just a computer system glich, I don't know. Can someone help me figure this out before I take it in for a costly fix?
