Carfax Only For A Private Party Car Purchase?

I am considering subscribing to the Carfax service.  The terms of use imply that it could only be used if I purchase a car from a private party.   Please clarify:   if I purchase the service but want to use it for a vehicle that is from a dealer,  is that prohibited?   If so,  It seems pretty limiting  and not worth my time to purchase the service.   Again, please clarify. Thanks.
