It sounds like your Casio HR-100TM calculator is experiencing issues with non-functional buttons and printing. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

Clean the buttons and the area around them to ensure there is no debris or dirt causing the issue. Replace the ink ribbon or thermal paper if printing is not working. Ensure that the paper is loaded correctly.

If cleaning and replacing consumables don't resolve the issue, the calculator may require servicing or repair.

Contact Casio customer support for further assistance or to locate an authorized service center.

Here's a breakdown of the potential causes for button and printing failures on a Casio HR-100TM calculator, along with troubleshooting steps:

1. Button Issues

Dirt and debris: Dust or crumbs can get under the keys, preventing them from making good contact.

Solution: Clean around the buttons carefully with a soft cloth, cotton swab, or compressed air. A little isopropyl alcohol on the cotton swab can help if there is more stubborn residue.

Worn contact pads: The conductive pads under the keys can wear down over time.

Solution: This requires disassembly and either cleaning the pads thoroughly or possibly replacement. This is more complex, and a technician might be needed.

Circuit board damage: Corrosion or damage to the calculator's circuit board can break the connection.

Solution: Requires disassembly and inspection. Repair or replacement of the circuit board might be necessary.

2. Printing Issues

Out of paper: The most simple solution!

Solution: Ensure you have a compatible paper roll inserted correctly in the printer compartment.

Ink ribbon depletion: The ink ribbon might have run out entirely.

Solution: Replace the ink ribbon with a compatible one.

Jammed paper: Paper can become stuck or misaligned in the printer mechanism.

Solution: Carefully remove any jammed paper and ensure the paper is feeding correctly.

Mechanical problems: Worn gears or other internal components of the printer could be failing.

Solution: Disassembly and inspection will be needed. Some parts might be replaceable, but major damage would be difficult to repair.

Troubleshooting Steps

Basic Cleaning: Start by cleaning the calculator thoroughly, especially around the buttons and the paper compartment.

Check the Paper and Ink Ribbon: Make sure these are in place and not depleted.

Reset: Find the small reset button (often on the back) and press it with a paperclip. This resets the calculator's settings but won't fix hardware issues.

If problems persist:

Refer to Manual: Your Casio HR-100TM manual might have more extensive troubleshooting guides. You can find it online https://www.manua.ls/casio/hr-100tm/manual

Seek Repair: If cleaning and basic steps don't help, it likely indicates a deeper hardware issue. Consider a qualified electronics repair shop if the calculator still has value to you.
