Dash Lights Staying On Killing Battery

I recently replaced the battery in my key (2004 pacifica). The key was de- programmed but somehow reconnected with the car and now works, however, the dash lights now stay on after removing the key from the ignition killing the battery eventually. So my temporary solution is disconnecting the battery every time i shut er down. I've read its possibly the ignition switch... Has anyone else ran into this issue or anyone that can give me some direction on how to resolve this? Its rather annoying to say the least.
