having stated that, I agree with you . The experience you had with Comfort Inn was unacceptable. Some kind of compensation, if not atleast one night free, should have been offered to try and keep a customer's business after such a bad experience.
I recommend you do contact Comfort Inn's Corporate Office to inform them of what happened. You will likely find they are willling to do what is neccessary to retain your business. Here is Corporate's contact information:
