What`s Wrong If The Xps 8500 Beeps 4 Times?

Hi Paigeturner,

Four beeps indicate RAM failure. Please click on the link given below to access the owner’s manual for steps on how to reset the Memory module. Once you click on the link, please navigate to page Number – 27. Please try to boot the system with only one memory module first and then the second one to check functionality:

The Dell XPS notebook will beep if the Bios battery is dead, You will need to replace the battery or set the time and date, it beeps whenever the system clock resets to the default due to a faulty battery. A bad laptop battery makes it worse. To confirm this, power the laptop when AC is connected, change the date and time to the current and start it and then turn it off. leave it connected to power. power it on after about 30 minutes and see if it beeps. If it doesnt shut it down and remover power for about 15 minutes. power on a gain and if it beeps you may need to replace both batteries (Cmos and Laptop battery) or be setting the time every time you power it on.
