Power off the Dell Latitude D531 and disconnect the power adapter.
Remove the laptop's battery. You may need to flip the laptop over and slide the battery latch to release it.
Locate the CMOS battery. It is a small, round, silver-colored battery on the motherboard. The exact location may vary, but it is typically found near the center of the laptop or near the memory slots.
Disconnect the CMOS battery from the motherboard. You can do this by gently pulling the connector or by using a small flat-head screwdriver to lift the retaining clip. Leave the battery disconnected for a few minutes to ensure that the CMOS memory is cleared.
Reconnect the CMOS battery to the motherboard. Make sure it is firmly connected and the retaining clip is secure.
Reinsert the laptop battery and connect the power adapter.
Power on the Dell Latitude D531. The BIOS settings should now be reset, including the BIOS password.
Please note that clearing the CMOS will reset all BIOS settings to their default values, so you may need to reconfigure any customized settings.
If you encounter any difficulties or if the BIOS password persists, it is recommended to contact Dell support or refer to the official Dell documentation for further assistance.
