My Computer's Power Button Broke...

Couple of months ago, I dropped my Dell laptop and the power button that was supposed to be hid by a cover broke but my laptop was still working. Except that it has the POWER button chip sticking out, so whenever I need to turn it on, I need to push on a little circle button and then the light turns on and it is okay. But the thing is, my Dell laptop was working perfectly fine until I saw on the power button microchip had three small wires that connects to the main button. The problem is that one of the three wires had tore off because it is so weak and small. I can't connect the wires together because the circle button is held by a tape. The wire that broke off is under the tape. We were wondering if we could just switch the back long part of the laptop (the one that acts like a hinge when you open it). It's where the power button is located. We wanted to see if we could switch only that. Thank you!
