Automatic Transmission Fluid

I do not have a manaual for my 1996 Escort Calypsowith automatic transmission (CVT I think). Can you tell me what fluid I should use in the gearbox as when cold and put in Drive it stalls, although it is fine in Reverse. When warm it is OK.
