Fuel Filter

I have a 09 f350 with approx 90k miles. the last time the fuel filters were changed was at 60K miles. The truck will not run. Dealer is telling me filters, pump and injectors need to be replaced approx $7800. Another dealer told me that it looks like orginal filters. Is it possible to cause all this damage with only being 15k miles over due or is it possible the filters were never changed as they claim they have been?

It might be possible to do that sort of damage with dirty filters, but $7,800 to replace the fuel pump, filter and injectors? Go to a local garage and get a second opinion! That dealer is trying to rip you off.

Here's what to do. Go to your local auto parts store and buy a new fuel pump ($120), fuel strainer ($15), fuel filter ($16)and 8 fuel injectors (might be special order on those)($45each x 8 =$360). That's a total of $511 for parts, which means your dealer is charging you over $7,000 for labor!

Take the parts to your local garage and tell them you were going to do it yourself, but you don't have the time right now. Any decent garage will install the parts for you and just charge for labor. I guarantee you that they will charge you less than $2,000 for the work.
