Why Do I Get A Red Flashing Health Led When I Use 8 4gb Dimms?

I have 8 nodes with 17 GB of ram each, with the following configuration 2 512MB 4 2Gb and 2 4 GB DIMMS. I tried to plugg on a node 8 4GB DIMMs but I the health led starts to flash and booting halts. I tried all combination which would total more than 17GB but without any luck. Do you have any suggestions?

There are a couple things you can check for in terms of memory installation.  First, we need to know what generation.  G6 servers have very specific rules.

Best practice for memory installation is to always have the denser memory in the lower level slots. The optimal installation would be (12GB example):
Bank A = 2GB Dimms (4GB Total)
Bank B = 2GB Dimms (4GB Total)
Bank C = 1GB Dimms (2GB Total)
Bank D = 1GB Dimms (2GB Total)
