Connect the parking brake wire to the parking brake switch in your vehicle. This is required by law to prevent you from watching DVDs while driving.
Insert a DVD into the deck's disc slot.
Press the DVD button on the deck.
Use the touchscreen controls to navigate through the DVD menu and select the title you want to watch.
To bypass the parking brake lock:
Put your vehicle in park.
Press and hold the Menu button on the deck for at least 5 seconds.
A hidden menu will appear.
Use the arrow buttons to navigate to the Parking Brake setting.
Press the Enter button to toggle the setting to Off.
Press the Menu button to exit the hidden menu.
Please note: Bypassing the parking brake lock is illegal in many jurisdictions and may void your vehicle's warranty.
Alternative:
If you don't want to bypass the parking brake lock, you can watch DVDs on your Kenwood DDX470 deck by connecting a portable DVD player to the deck's auxiliary input. To do this:
Connect the audio and video output cables from the portable DVD player to the auxiliary input jacks on the back of the deck.
Switch the deck to the Aux input mode.
Play the DVD on the portable DVD player.
This will allow you to watch DVDs on your deck's screen without having to put your vehicle in park.
