(1) How old is the trimmer and have you had it running/working this year?
(2) How old is your gas/oil mix? If it's leftover from last year pour it it in car tank or lawnmower (assuming lawn mower is not a 2 cycle engine), mix up a fresh batch.
(3) One way to verify if it's not getting fuel is to remove the spark plug, spray some WD40 (or similar) into the cylinder, re-install plug and see if it will at least fire or try to start; if it does likely is a fuel issue
(4) Most common problem with string trimmers not starting or run/die is the deterioration of the fuel lines (both feed/suction and return line)
(5) Another possibility is carbon build-up in the exhaust ports; however usually will run, just poorly, smoke a lot and not have much power; this is not common though if your using a good quality 2 cycle oil and assuming the trimmer is less than 10 years old, most are a 40:1 mix meaning 3.2 ounces oil to 1 gallon of gas.
Hopes this helps as a start...model/type # of the trimmer would be helpful; should be a tag on the bottom of the engine housing with this info...Khaja
