2011 Altima Shift P Warning With Outside Audible Warning
When put the car in park and turn the engine off, the P Shift warning indicator light is given. A continuos high pitch outside audible warning is heard comming from a small black box next to the brake fluid resevoir. An interior warning chime is also heard. Moreover, the car can be shifted with the engine off as if the shift lock release was in use. The car returns to normal when it is started and driven. I am a mechanic and do not find anything in the owners manual that addresses this problem. It is late and the sevice dept at my nissan dealer is closed. Any assistance would be appreciated.
