Play Or Slack In Rear Drive Shaft / Rear Diff

I have a new 2015 Nissan Frontier SV V6 crew cab. From day one I've noticed that their is some play in the rear shaft or diff. It's always noticeable, always there, warm or cold. It happens on starts or stopping also at highway speeds when letting off the gas or when I step back on the gas. I brought it back to the dealer when the pickup was two weeks old about 400 miles. The mechanic took me on a drive and he knew exactly what I was talking about. He then said its "normal" for the Frontiers & Titians to do that.I find that hard to believe and guess that this will lead to other problems. At least constantly blowing through u joints. Is this normal?
