Shutter Opening

My camera had been working beautifully for 6 days and then this morning I turned it on and it took a couple of pictures and then nothing but a black screen. I had a fully charged battery in it. When we returned to shore, I took it out of the case and tried another battery. When I turned it on the lens cover kept cycling open and closed and I couldn't turn it off. I had to remove the battery to stop it. Any idea what's going on
