Issues With Surroundbar

I was given the surroundbar without the remote. When i plug it in it shows a solid red light on the power button and no buttons respond to touch. I had plugged the surroundbar into a different power cord i had and it shows a solid yellow/orange light on the power button but still the buttons dont respond to touch. Is there a way to fix this or does the soundbar require a remote?
