The "EL" in the Singer Heavy Duty 6800C model number stands for "electronic." This means that the machine has a computerized control system, which gives it a number of advantages over traditional mechanical sewing machines.

Some of the benefits of a computerized sewing machine include:

A wider variety of stitch patterns, including decorative stitches, buttonholes, and lettering

The ability to save and recall custom stitch settings

Easier threading and bobbin winding

Automatic features such as start/stop, reverse stitching, and needle positioning

More consistent stitch quality

The Singer Heavy Duty 6600C does not have the "EL" suffix in its model number, so it is a mechanical sewing machine. This means that it does not have all of the same features as a computerized sewing machine, but it is still a reliable and durable machine that is capable of sewing a wide variety of fabrics.

It is not uncommon for sewing machine manufacturers to produce different versions of the same model with different features. This allows them to offer a wider range of products to meet the needs of different consumers. For example, a consumer who is looking for a basic sewing machine for simple tasks may choose a mechanical model, while a consumer who is looking for a more advanced machine with more features may choose a computerized model.

Ultimately, the best way to decide which type of sewing machine is right for you is to consider your individual needs and budget. If you are not sure which type of machine to choose, it is a good idea to consult with a sewing machine dealer or experienced sewer.
