2001 Sle Conv. The Top Wont Go Up Or Down.

I have 2 switches, 1 at the dash area and 1 in the trunk area. my son does a lot of vehicle repairs has informed me it could be both motors are bad. Is it a possibility that both went bad at the same time? Fuses are ok. Please help. Is there something else I'm over-looking?

It can be due to many things, the most likely being the controller has got confused.
Make sure your battery is good, that's important, then lower the top fully either manually (taking care to do it properly or you'll wreck things) or with the pump, then raise it.
Repeat a few times.
If the latch doesn't sort itself then lower the top, open Tee handle, manualy open latch with the Allen key, close Tee handle and try again.
