What About Trend Micro

I am considereng a different virus control software.  Trend micro comes to mind because my company has moved to your company.  I am getting not so good support from another company, so it might be time to take a real look at Trend Micro.  Your quick response will also help in making the decision to use your software.

I do not work for Trend Micro but I have used the product.  These are just my opinions.

In the past I have used most of the commercial AV vendors at one time or another.  I have very definite opinions about what AV solution is best to use in different circumstances.  I have had good and bad luck with them all.

For personal non-commercial use I recommend the various free products.  They are as good and sometimes better than the commercial ones.

For corporate use Trend is a good choice.  One of the previous companies I worked for used Trend.  They got good response from the support people and got quick signature updates when a new strain showed up.  My current company uses one of the big three who's name I won't mention.  I'm less than impressed but am forced to go with what the company has decided to use.

I truely feel that the major AV vendors are about evenly devided.  The thing that seperates them is their support.  The AV software itself is pretty much the same, give or take.

A good way to determine where the companies rank is to check out VirusBulletin at http://www.virusbtn.com/index

If I had to currently chose between major vendors I would go with either McAfee or Trend.  I have history with McAfee so I'm a bit biased.  Just for good measure, for free products I would go with Avast! (or ESET NOD32 but thats not free).

Hope that helped some.

I use Norton Internet Security and think it is brilliant.

Not so long ago Norton was pretty slow and hogged system resources, making your whole computer slow. This is not the case now and it runs quite happily in the background without slowing everything down.

You can get it for around £29 for a 3 computer licence.
