Clarify International/domestic Conflicting Information

We are travelling to an international destination with the first leg of the flight within the US.  Will our bags be checked through or do we have to arrange assistance iwth the bags at the intermediate airport.  Also, do we arrive at the first airport early as for international flight or as for domestic.

You will have to claim your bags at the first airport you reach in a foreign country, in order to go through customs.  Your bags will be checked through all domestic flights ans subsequent flights after arriving abroad.

Definitely go to the airport at least 2 hours before your flight. i would go closer to 2 and a half hours early, if it is during spring break, or a weekend or holiday. better to be there at the gate, relaxing..then stressing, in a long line somewhere. your bags should be checked through to your final destination, when you check in domestically. Be sure to ask at the check in counter. But..if you are changing airlines, you might need to get your bags, and check them with your 2ndary airline. You will also need to have your passports checked at your international outbound gate, before you board, so get to the gate a bit early, and step up to the agents there, for them to be checked.
