Why Did Seller Info Disappear From Ebay Invoice Emails & Order Details?

I'm both a buyer and seller on eBay, and noticed a few months ago that the eBay-generated invoice emails had only seller's user ID - no names, addresses, phone numbers - which is a distinct change from the past. A friend mentioned it was to discourage paper (check, money order) payments in favor of eBay-owned PayPal transactions. I've called eBay, but the CSR was clueless, and there is nothing in the eBay Help pages... What's up?

2 reasons, one for each side: eBay says eliminating the seller's mailing info from the invoice discourages mailed payments, which have a much higher incidence of fraud. They say they are trying to protect the buyer by funneling them toward electronic payment. Side #2: Sellers say eBay did this to force buyers to use PayPal, a sister company from which they make money. You be the judge as to which is right. :-)
