Bought An Emachine New. All Vocals From Cd Or Dvd Sound Compressed/how To Fix?

vocals in cd or dvd audio sound like a tin can W/no bass using on board sound.it's a NEW pc in box @pawn shop. any way to fix or need a sound card new?
