How can I verify a disputed charge to my credit card from ITunes store?

Sign in to your account at Apple. You may need to print or save some of the information there in order to dispute the charges with your credit card company and have them reversed.
There have been security problems in the past and I don't know if they have been completely resolved.
There is no one good answer. You could call the Apple automated switchboard 1-800-676-22775 but this will probably leave you more frustrated.
I don't know if the charges were above $50 but if they were, you might also want to take a look at this FTC page.
