Good people
I have no complaints with Amex other than it would nice if they were accepted in more places

Gift card camouflage Amex where the only one getting express(ion) is them
Purchased a gift card for $50 on 7/28, tried to use it on 7/29 was not verifiable, called no. on back for help, made me go through a check balance (automated), charged me $1 fee could not get through to cust. service, this happened 6 times so now have 44 on card and have paid $4.64 at check out for card and cost $6 for card inquiry's so now have paid 60.64 for a $44 card, still no help but did find out that cust. serv. for the gift cards are not 24/7 (like it says on their site) they close at midnight. Certainly is disheartening for such a reputable company to be nickel and diming customers this way. If I could give a negative review of minus 10 I would.

Fine, when you can use it
American Express is offered in many fewer locations than other credit cards.

Customer Service
We worked with an agent by the name of Tracey on June 13th, 2011. It was mid afternoon. She was fantastic. She was kind and considerate. She took the time to make sure all our questions were answered prior to our booking. She was simply fantastic.

The Rebate Check that AmEx issues to Costco cardholders arrives in the same envelope as the regular monthly statement. I accidentally shredded that page, called back and asked for the replacement. I was told to wait 30 days 'till my next scheduled statement arrives. I patiently did. After it arrived, the check wasn't there - I called and was told that the "commuter glitch perverted the issuance of the check", and I must wait another 30 days! I complained to no avail -- they are using MY MONEY ($600), and now I must wait another 30 days? AmEx used to be a prestigious and respectable firm -- they have lost when they had. So sad ... I'm thinking of cancelling my card as soon as I'll receive the rebate.
