I Have A 2003/4 Sonata Gls Ef 2,0 Litre Manual.

My airconditioner stopped working and after taking it to an aircon repair shop no leaks could be detected in the engine compartment. They now say they have to remove the dashboard to check. Is this correct and what could the problem be? Is this an expensive operation?
