You need to obtain a clean boot disk. If you have another laptop that is OK then if it has a floppy drive you can format it and create it as a bootable disk. If you use a USB stick then format and put a system on it using a programme called "Rufus'. Do a Google search. Once you have that download AVG free and install it onto the stick. Copy dos files from your drive including the file 'FDISK' once again do a google search for help as this is not able to be advised in this document. Once that has been done make the stick read only. Insert the stick into your troubled machine and boot onto it from a start up. Open FDISK and select the option to restore MBR. You can then run a virus check from the stick on your drive or you could instal AVG onto your hard drive but that could be difficult. This should enable you to boot into the drive. However if your OS is corrupted then you will need to run a repair. This should happen when Windows starts up. If all else fails then a rebuild could be required. Please place another question if you get stuck at any point and state how far you have reached. Then we can take up your case again.

When you run the repair function in Windows start up you have the option to retain your personal items.

Good luck.

Hope that helps.
