Non-industrial Size Oscillating Pedestal Fan Has Stopped Working; Motor Not Hot.

Fan is ca. 2000. Do not know its Model #. It has three speed rotating switch at rear of motor housing; in-out knob for setting operation to oscillate/fixed on upper side of housing. With fan switch ON I twisted & bent the insulated power wire from motor mount to plug end, and moved plug to known live outlet - with no changes observed. Without a manual or a known Model#, I started to examine the unplugged fan: Although removal of Phillips screw and of speed switch were obvious, I cannot remove motor housing with confidence - since can't confidently remove oscillate/fixed knob. So: If I had a technical or a repair manual i could probably proceed, but don't know its Model# (is not on any plate or label that I have found). I don't even know its "size" since I can find nowhere online to define what to measure to determine its actual size, which I assume will approximate a Model size (e.g. if diameter of fan blade unit is 18-1/2" then I would reasonably look at manuals for Models starting with 18, or ending with 18.) How could anyone help me before bedtime tonight (at 7:15pm it is still 80degrees F and 60% RH, barometer falling slowly). Thanks in advance. I am Bill
