Uniden Ehd1200gb Won't Connect

I have a Uniden EHD1200GB that was working perfectly. I moved across town, and it hasn't worked at the new location. The symptoms are not addressed in the manual - when you push the talk button on the handset, the led above the talk button flashes 6-8 times then the handset shuts off. I thought it might be the battery, but a brand new one did not help, even after charging for 30 hours. (I also tested the battery with a meter, and it has the proper voltage.) I have gone through the "Reset" procedure a few time, and even took it to another building to see if I could get a different result, to no avail. I tried calling Uniden, but they just say the phone is no longer in production. Does anyone know what the multiple flashes on the handset LED might signify? Thanks!
