Hookup Receiver To Akai Big Screen Tv Not Flat Screen

I accidentally pulled connection from tv, tried to reconnect but it won't work. The woofer is on can hear it humming, but no sound from tv. Not @ home now can not give you tv model, but it has quite a few of connections with the colors red/yellow. tried some did not work but when touch the connector cord to any of the connections the woofer will hum loud but once connected won't work. HELP!!!!
