If you do not have a paper copy, you can register online without that account number
- Log in to Register for an AT&T U-verse account.
- or you can use this link
- Select Continue and enter your U-verse Account Number or Member ID. Your Member ID is the email you provided when you place your order.
- Paperless Billing option - here you will have the option of enrolling in paperless billing.
- Select I Agree to the AT&T High Speed Internet Terms of Service.
- Select an existing Member ID or create a new Member ID.
- Note: Selecting a new Member ID may result in loss of email if another Member ID is currently being used.
- If you selected an existing Member ID: Enter current Member ID, select the domain and enter the password.
- If you selected create a new Member ID: Enter Account Passcode to create a Member ID. - Complete the Provide Additional Information screen.
- Registration Confirmationpage will display. Verify all information is correct.
- Select the Continue button.

The basic problem is that you need the password number you selected when you set up the service OR you need the account number. Since the account number is on a paper bill, you should be able to find it there. Once you have it you can elect to use paperless billing and will usually not need the account number unless you call to discuss your bill.
I know that I have needed mine and it is a real pain to locate it without it.
If you set up an online registration, you will always be able to access your account number.
