Does the new log-in page appear before or after you entered your email address? Have you also entered your password? Did you check to make sure the caps lock was off?
Obviously you've had this email address for a long time as SBC was bought out by AT&T in 2005. You should be able to access your account from wither Yahoo by clicking on the Mail link once logged into Yahoo. Is that where you are having a problem?
Even though you are not having password issues you could try this link for more assistance from Yahoo. https://edit.yahoo.com/forgotroot and select the most logical choice from the list. Then click next.

Another way to contact Yahoo is by phone 866-562-7219 (don't be alarmed by the automated scream/yahoo) and pressing 2 when asked to select. You can reach them on the west coast M-F 6am-6pm Pacific Time.
