My At&t Alcatel Go Phone Is Brand New &wont Work. It Says No Sim/sos Please Hel

I bought an AT&T prepaid go phone it's the little white Alcatel one that costs like 30 bucks (I opened it and threw away packaging because I didn't expect any problems :(.So I'm not sure the exact model) it has never wobecause! It just says No SIM/SOS . I have sense naught ought another one and it works just fine. I need the first one to work as well not only because I spent money on it but its very important that I have another phone for work. Can any one please help me? Thanks!
