Unlock Iphone4

I got a iphone 4 from a friend, he told me it´s from AT&T, my phone is now locked, i read on the internet that AT&T can help me with a code so i can open it if i give AT&T the phones EMEI, is this true?????????? I am from Denmark, and i dont know how to contact AT&T, becaurse i dont have any accounts or a zipcode to write on AT&Ts homepage.
