Consumer Reports recommends the Acer Aspire 5 at $550. Its review reads:
This Acer Aspire 5 has speeds good for productivity work, but there might be a slowdown when running intensive graphical programs like demanding video games or editing media. The display has wide viewing angles and a matte screen that cuts down on distracting glare, but colors are muted and a bit off-tone.
For $1000 it recommends the larger faster Acer Nitro 5:
The Acer Nitro 5 has among the fastest speeds among tested laptops, and even demanding video games show smooth graphics in CR tests. It has a fine display, with near-accurate colors, a low-glare screen, and a wide range of colors.
