Timex Global Trainer W/ Corrupted Firmware, Computer Doesn't Recognize

The watch initially worked up until I attempted to update the firmware.  The reason I tried to update the firmware was the watch would not download my completed workouts.  It would go through the proper sequence and see the workouts.  It would attempt to download them to the computer.  But, I would then receive an error box saying there were no workouts available to transfer.  I could go on the watch in review mode and see the workouts, but no matter how many times I tried to download them, I repeatedly received the "no workouts available" error. During the firmware update attempt, the computer-watch interface was working properly.  I observed communications between the computer and the watch which included the sequence where the computer erased the watches firmware, sent the new software, and the watch said it was receiving the software.  The status bar on the computer screen got about 30% through the transfer and then I got an error box stating that, "An error occured and action could not be completed."   I attempted to update the firmware three times, all with the same indications.  As I said earlier, the watch appeared to be frozen and wouldn't do anything.  At that point, I powered it off and it went totally blank.  I attempted to restart it and could see the backlight, but nothing on the face. The watch had indicated 90% charge prior to my attempt to upgrade the firmware.  It's not the battery.  My guess is the software, either on the watch or the firmware update, got corrupted.   Regardless, I believe a software fault caused the update process to experience a total failure.I contacted Peaksware for technical support.  They said to push all six buttons to do a factory reset.  I did that and the watch said "waiting for pc."  But, when I hooked it up to the interface, the computer didn't see the device on the port.  There is no way to update the firmware The watch is totally unusable.  Consequently, I request either a new watch or a complete refund.

to reset the watch you first have to go to the configure page on the watch then go to GPS from there go to VERSION. now push all six bottons and your watch should reset.

Thanks to your post (and some resent printer problems) I was able to solve the exact same problem.  These were the steps I took.

Timex Ironman Global Trainer GPS w/HRM was stuck/frozen with screen saying "Swim  Timer 5" (or the like).

1. I pressed all six side buttons simultaneously for about 5-8 seconds (which only seems to do the same as pressing the Back/Power button) and the device completely powered down.

2. I pressed down the following 5 buttons (Up, Enter, Dwn/Stp/Rst, Indiglo, Mode) FIRST then I pressed the Back/Pwr button last.   The screen came on as Firmware Upgrade - (PC Sync..or..waiting for computer -don't recall but I know Firmware Upgrade as at the top)

3. I did step 2. above exactly the same: 5 buttons, then Back/Pwr button; the device powered off. (The key seems to be hitting the Back/Pwr button LAST)

4. I did step 2. AGAIN, exactly the same: 5 buttons, THEN Back/Pwr button.  Device powered on and said something to the effect of Device Resetting.

Now the watch is just like out of the box.  Clean slate and good to go!

I've cycled through the various screens and everything looks normal.

I sincerely hope this helps.  I was really bummed and p.o.'d when the screen freeze happened. 

I haven't tried to sync device yet with pc, but I imagine you better be sure your settings are saved on the Timex Device Agent if you have any hope of carrying your settings over.  Although, I'll be happy to reset my screens and metrics now that my Global Trainer is working.
