Finding Deleted Mail......not There!

I write a newsletter for a group of nurses online. When I have copied and pasted the article paragraph to the new newsletter outline, I delete the copy.Unfortunately, two days ago my new newsletter outline disappeared before I could "save" it (I do this in increments so it won't get "lost").I looked everywhere for it........tried the old mail, spam section, even the deleted mail section........it wasn't to be found. I finally gave up because I had to go to work. I closed out the AOL ......and just as it was going ......I saw my outline for a nanosecond (no way to retrieve it).I have to go to the last saved outline, of course. BUT..........all those articles that I deleted are gone also !!! Where? HELP me, please. Also, when I mail something to myself, it goes to SPAM, not new mail.
