What Can I Do About A Destroyed Handle On My Suitcase?

When we checked in at AA luggage counter, I tried to tell the worker that the handle sticks, but he was so busy talking to another worker, I don't think he heard me. When my suitcase arrived at DIA, the entire pull handle had been snapped off. Where it is, I don't know, but the suitcase is totally useless to me now. I understand AA doesn't address exterior damage. Could I ask what other kind of damage there is? Have I any recourse? Thank you, Sandy
