Membership Suspension

My son and I are recent members from last year, I think July or August. In November I became sick, December diagnosed with cancer, surgery in December and currently chemo for 1 1/2 years and has the usual fatigue and anemia. I've been unable to come to the gymn. I called the local office to explain to see if my membership could be put on a hold a while until I'm stronger. I was told no. I think that is very unfair and wanted to get a response from corporate about this.
