Wads Of Paper Stuck Within Shredder Teeth-roll.

Wads of Paper stuck within shredder teeth-roll. Tried scraping off with knife to no avail. Not able to remove top cover due to lack of appropriate tools...please advise or give recommendations...the model is approimately 3- 5 yrs. old..have been very happy with its operation until this problem...
