How Does Pro Tools Slow Down My Macbook And Effect Other Software?

I recently leased Pro Tools 12, every since my Macbook has ran very slow. I am a professional DJ and it has effected Serato DJ the most. My laptop runs very slow when Avid App Manager is running. I feel that there is another app running underneath slowing my processing down or something.
