How To Disconnect Alarm System On A 1989 Bmw

The car has 89K kilometers and is currently in France where my parents live. I want to sell it, but the alarm has given me trouble and I want to resolve it before the sale. The was taken to a BMW dealer but the problem was never resolved. Apparently, the alarm on a BMW of that time (1989) was set with a code, which the dealer did not get. What shall I do?
