Why Is My96 Tahoe Randomly Goes In & Out Of2hi While Driving Down Road

So i can be driving along my way & randomly my 2hi push button goes off,sometimes it will go back into 2hi if i hold the push button in long enough however i sometimes have to pull off the road put my truck in park and turn the motor off before it will do right. Why does it do that/
