If your having trouble moving the shifter out of park there is usually a SHIFT LOCK RELEASE right near the shifter. Usually you take the key you use to start the car and push it in the hole and pull the shifter down to "n" pull the key out start the car and then put it in any gear but park till you stop the car again.
