How To Replace Expansion Valve And Dryer

Most Chrysler expansion valves are located at the firewall connection where the two lines attach. Evacuate the refrigerant, then remove the line connection at the firewall (pass side) remove two torx head bolts that secure the expansion valve to the evaporator.Try to be as quick as possible replacing parts as any moisture (humidity) will enter the system.
After sealing the system, you MUST draw out all the air w/ a vacuum pump to remove any moisture and of course air, this allows the moisture to boil off and prevents air from mixing with the new refrigerant.
Modern recovery machines measure the lube oil that is removed with the refrigerant, so replace only what has been removed, too much oil can cause issues. The receiver dryer is the canister looking device on the passenger side firewall. Go here  for a non-specifc model, accumulator drier replacement.
